The Deepening into Being
This is a continuous programme of study based on Toltec Shamanism, the teachings of Don Juan Matus and G.I. Gurdjieff. This work is open to all previous participants of the workshops “Teaching the Horse to Think”, “The Jump to the Other Self”, The Jump into Being and “The Way of the Peaceful Warrior”.
Each participant's purpose, each goal, each experience was different, yet somewhere there is a common ground seeded in a longing, a distant knowing. How clearly we see that, feel that, determines how we are, how we proceed in response to that longing.
To encourage enquiry and self-realisation are some of the goals of this further work. True happiness, peace in oneself, relaxing in life and being, these are matters of consequence in the hands of a seeker determined to taste freedom, joy and knowing.
Light? Where is the Light? Light the fire if you have desire! Thunder, rushing wind, nothingness. Black night, black stone. Don't let your whole life go by in the dark. Evidently the only way to find the path is to set fire to your own life.
Being eligible for this work through your previous participation and deciding to make further enquiry implies a degree of commitment towards personal growth. At this time, it also implies a preparedness to understand deeply the cycles of our lives, our planet and our cosmos. These were matters understood by many ancient cultures and we will examine and work with these ideas to the extent this is conducive to each participant's needs and predilection.
After individual field work has been undertaken participants may meet as a group in a workshop or may work privately with Ram in the field in the most relevant and appropriate areas.
Imagine we are blindfold and a beautiful being comes by. We might know their beauty by their speech—but what if they remained silent? There is another way of looking that lets us recognize true human beings. If the world were populated with light forms and we had our eyes shut-who would we know? For many it is an enormous realisation to accept the possibility that despite our abilities and skills we may be asleep, working at a fraction of our potential.
The Work
Deepening into Being introduces a programme of personal work. The work will be undertaken by participants over the 8-12 months, mostly at their own pace and mostly on their own. The work will be supervised and closely supported by Ram Chatlani and it will be possible for participants to meet with each other to facilitate aspects of the work if they so wish.
There are different areas of study designed to introduce ceremonial activity, to learn to work in and with nature at a deep level that connects our inner goals with the natural world; to resolve inner conflict, to locate and reduce or completely remove the negative energetic influences of the past and bring heightened awareness to attention.
This "remote supervision" programme offers the opportunity to prepare for what Tagore described as the need to "set fire to your own life".
Deepening into Being is an opportunity to bring into our everyday lives elements of change, of growth. Regardless of our responsibilities in ordinary life it is possible to establish a very strong force for transformation. Deepening into being is a courageous step. It implies understanding that it is our internal and external conditioning that holds us as we are.
Amid the demands of our ordinary lives it is possible to find the space and the energy through the investigation and application of certain principles. To help us we will access and deploy the wisdom of the ancients: the cosmic awareness of the Maya, the power of the Toltec; the insight, love and determination of the Sufi, the discipline of the yogi and the gentleness of the Tao. There is no division here: all speak of how we can find our own truth, become what we can be, here and now.
The Jump into Being may have given an insight into our limitation and insight into the fact there is more unknown than known. It may have given an insight into our sleep.
We cannot see with our eyes closed, asleep, believing we are awake. If the nose smells anything it will let me know; if my ears hear anything they will let me know. But to deepen into being is to begin to awaken, to make a strong wish to SEE.
The invitation is made by Ram Chatlani who will guide the work in accordance with guidance he has been privileged to receive over life from the most exalted masters to the most humble. “I offer service for the benefit of all beings. How many times have we groaned at the madness? When will it stop? When will humankind come to its senses? I have a clue—perhaps when each of us makes a sacrifice, offers a sign that resonates into the absolute. For that sign to be heard, unless we are individually possessed of great power, we must work together. We must also have some idea of the method.”
In story and in song, on the land and in the air, through the waters and the beings within it: we shall have nothing except what we make. The hidden work awaits our contribution.
