The Marriage of Heaven & Earth
Heaven and earth, the quintessential yogic experience in chi gung.
As did the ancient yogis, so too did the Taoists recognise the body as a guide. Through movement in and of the physical body, the 7 bodies of the tao are discovered, gradually, as skill, concentration and mindfulness are developed.
The marriage of heaven and earth chi gung, incorporates and encompasses all that we are cogniscent of. Adhering to a simple form, practitioners develop the movements of the form into harmonious expression of energetic pathways and internal actions that become increasingly evident and familiar.
Syllabus of the weekend will introduce:
Tai chi circling hands: a foundation series of fluid and enormously variable movements that serve as a means to harmonise the body-mind.these movements alone are worth the price of admission! These incorporate all the fundamentals of Tai chi ch’uan and offer limitless potential to explore fluid, directed movement. The health benefits of these exercises alone is staggering.
Bowing the spine: using the spinal ligaments: releases constriction in the spinal column and prepares the nervous system for release of restrictive and negative past influence.
Pulsing the joints of the body: learning and feeling the physical and energetic functions of synovial fluid and gradually, all the joints in the body.
The microcosmic and macrocosmic energy orbits of the body: developing awareness through movement and integrating movement with the circulation of the orbits.
Harmonising the breath and integrating it with the movement.
Separating and combining: learning the components individually, combining them for maximum effect, concentrating on those most relevant.
Through the exercise, become a harmonious expression of the marriage of heaven and earth, which takes place in all organic matter on earth.
External forms are the gateway.
The health benefits of the marriage of heaven and earth: this is a powerful Taoist chi gung set. Practised at any level of competence it will harmonise all the energy systems of the body. It has the potential to improve skeletal health, particularly the joints and will benefit blood flow and the elasticity of the arterial system as well as encouraging deep release in the nervous system. A harmonious and fluent form, it represents the wood element in traditional Chinese medicine and thus benfits the liver.
